Purchasing a real Christmas tree helps to support rural economies and once trees are harvested, more are planted.
Over 5 million Christmas trees are planted across the UK each year. A Christmas tree can spend 6-10 years growing in the field, during which time it is helping the world breath.
Every hectare of trees produces enough oxygen for 45 people each day and absorbs carbon dioxide.
Christmas Tree fields also provide an excellent habitat for wildlife and many bird species that are often lost by intensive farming practices.
Real Christmas trees are natural and are 100% recyclable. After you and your family have enjoyed your tree and Christmas is over, it can be recycled, chipped into mulch for gardens or woodchips for paths.
Many councils have allocated locations where you can leave your tree after Christmas (take the decorations off first). Or you can take them to your nearest recycling centre. Find out more...
