The role

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Temporary Plant Area Assistant to join our team at Weybridge Garden Centre.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working outdoors, has an interest in plants and gardening, and takes pride in keeping the plant area looking its best. You'll help maintain our plants, keep displays looking great and provide friendly, helpful service to our customers.

Working alongside the Plant Area Manager and Supervisor, you'll play an important part in keeping the department well stocked, tidy and ready for customers throughout the season.

What you'll be doing

• Plant care: Watering, feeding and deadheading plants, ensuring they are well maintained and presented to a high standard.

• Stock and merchandising: Unpacking deliveries, pricing stock and creating attractive displays across the plant area.

• Customer service: Helping customers choose plants, offering advice where possible and assisting with carrying purchases to their vehicles.

• Department standards: Keeping plant benches, walkways and display areas clean, tidy and safe.

• Stock management: Helping replenish stock and ensuring plants are displayed in the right places and are easy for customers to shop.

• Teamwork: Working closely with the Plant Area Manager and Supervisor to maintain standards and support seasonal sales.

About you

• A genuine interest in plants, gardening or horticulture.

• A friendly and approachable manner, with a focus on helping customers.

• A reliable, proactive attitude and willingness to get stuck in.

• Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions.

• Physically able to carry out a hands-on role, including lifting pots, moving compost and helping reposition plant displays.

• A good team player who takes pride in their work.

Working hours

This is a 40-hour-per-week temporary position, with one day off during the week and alternate weekend working.
