The Role

As Home Department Manager, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day running and commercial performance of the Home Department, leading your team to deliver excellent customer service and high standards across the area.

You'll be responsible for ensuring the department is well presented, fully stocked and commercially focused, while keeping up to date with seasonal trends, promotions and new product ranges.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Taking overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Home Department

• Leading, motivating and developing the team

• Driving sales and achieving departmental targets

• Creating inspiring and commercially focused displays

• Maintaining consistently high standards of merchandising, presentation and housekeeping

• Managing stock levels, replenishment and stock rotation

• Monitoring availability and ensuring products are presented to maximise sales

• Planning and implementing seasonal changes, promotions and new ranges

• Working closely with suppliers and the wider team where required

• Overseeing deliveries and ensuring stock is received and put out efficiently

• Managing customer queries and resolving issues confidently and professionally

• Monitoring department performance and identifying opportunities to increase sales

• Managing staffing levels, rotas and day-to-day team organisation

• Ensuring company procedures around health & safety and security are followed

• Supporting recruitment, training and development of team members

• Working closely with other departments and the wider management team to deliver the best possible customer experience

About You

We're looking for an experienced retail manager who is commercially aware, organised and confident leading a team.

You'll ideally have:

• Previous retail management experience

• Experience within homewares, interiors, furniture or a similar retail environment is desirable

• A strong eye for detail, merchandising and visual presentation

• A proven track record of delivering sales and commercial results

• Excellent customer service and communication skills

• Experience managing, motivating and developing a team

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in a busy environment

• Good understanding of stock management and retail processes

• A proactive, hands-on approach to management

• Confidence making decisions and taking ownership of a department

• A genuine passion for retail, home and interiors

You don't need to have worked in a garden centre before. We're more interested in your retail management experience, commercial awareness and ability to lead a team and create a great shopping environment.
