Home Department Assistant (Temporary)- Grosvenor Garden Centre

Hours: 24 hours per week, including working every other weekend
Contract: Temporary, September to December

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Home Department on a temporary basis from September to December, helping us through one of our busiest and most exciting times of the year.

Working within our Home Department, you'll play an important role in creating an enjoyable shopping experience for our customers. From merchandising and creating eye-catching displays to helping customers find products for their home and supporting our seasonal ranges, this is a varied role within a busy garden centre.

The Role

As a Temporary Home Department General Assistant, you'll help ensure the department is well stocked, beautifully presented, and maintained to the high standards our customers expect.

Working alongside the department team, you'll support with merchandising, stock replenishment, customer service, and the day-to-day running of the department, helping us through the busy autumn and Christmas trading period.

Key Responsibilities

• Create attractive and inspirational displays to drive sales and enhance the customer experience.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, cleanliness, and shop floor presentation.
• Assist with the movement, assembly, and merchandising of furniture, homeware, gifts, and seasonal products.
• Provide excellent customer service and help customers find the right products for their needs.
• Process sales accurately using the EPOS system and handle customer enquiries professionally.
• Replenish stock and ensure products are correctly merchandised and priced.
• Print and display POS materials throughout the department.
• Follow action points from reports and departmental floor walks.
• Assist with stock takes and seasonal department changes.
• Support promotional events and busy seasonal trading periods, including Christmas.
• Work closely with colleagues to keep the department organised, safe, and commercially presented.
• Support the Department Manager with the day-to-day running of the department.

• Has good organisational skills and can prioritise tasks effectively.
• Previous retail experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
