Hours: Full-time, 42.5 hours per week, including alternate weekends

The Role

As Gardening Department Supervisor, you will support the Department Manager with the day-to-day running of the Gardening Department.

Working across areas including garden tools, landscaping, compost, plant care, irrigation, pots and associated accessories, you will help ensure the department is well stocked, commercially presented and delivering an excellent experience for our customers.

You will play an important role in supporting and motivating the team, maintaining high standards on the shop floor and helping to drive sales across the department.

This is a hands-on role and would suit someone who enjoys being on the shop floor, working with customers and supporting a team in a busy retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Department Manager with the day-to-day running of the Gardening Department
• Supervise and support the team, providing guidance and direction throughout the day
• Deliver excellent customer service and ensure high standards are maintained across the department
• Help drive sales and identify opportunities to improve department performance
• Maintain high standards of merchandising and product presentation
• Support with stock control, replenishment, ordering and stock rotation
• Assist with seasonal launches, promotional activity and POS implementation
• Help organise daily workloads and ensure tasks are completed effectively
• Maintain a clean, safe and well-presented department
• Support the training and development of team members
• Ensure company procedures and health and safety standards are followed
• Deputise for the Department Manager when required

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous retail experience, ideally within garden retail, DIY, home improvement or a similar environment
• Supervisory or team leadership experience would be beneficial
• A strong interest in gardening products and outdoor retail
• Excellent customer service skills
• Commercially aware with an understanding of driving sales and maintaining retail standards
• Confident supporting and motivating a team
• Organised and able to prioritise effectively in a busy environment
• Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation
• A positive, hands-on and flexible approach
• Keen to develop and progress within a growing retail business
