Temporary Hardy Plants General Assistant- Coton Orchard
Location: Coton Orchard Garden Centre
Hours: 20 hours per week, including weekend working
Contract: Temporary – 5th October 2026 to 1st July 2027

We're looking for Temporary Hardy Plants General Assistants to join the team at Coton Orchard Garden Centre during one of our busiest trading periods.
Working within our Hardy Plants department, you'll help care for a wide variety of plants, maintain beautiful displays and provide friendly, knowledgeable service to our customers. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work in a fast-paced, outdoor retail environment.
The Role
As a Temporary Hardy Plants General Assistant, you'll support the day-to-day running of the Hardy Plants department, ensuring it remains well stocked, beautifully presented and maintained to the high standards our customers expect.
You'll work closely with the wider team to care for plants, replenish stock, create attractive displays and assist customers with finding the right plants and products for their gardens.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver friendly and knowledgeable customer service.
- Water, care for and maintain the quality of hardy plants.
- Replenish stock and maintain attractive plant displays.
- Assist with deliveries, stock movement and merchandising.
- Keep the department clean, tidy and well presented at all times.
- Provide customers with advice and guidance on plants and gardening products where appropriate.
- Support seasonal changes and promotional displays.
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure an outstanding shopping experience.
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys working outdoors and has a genuine enthusiasm for plants and customer service.
You'll ideally have:
- A passion for gardening or horticulture.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- A positive, reliable and hardworking attitude.
- The ability to work well as part of a team.
- Good physical fitness, as the role involves lifting, moving stock and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Previous garden centre, horticultural or retail experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
