The Role

As a Hardy Plants General Assistant, you'll support the day-to-day running of the department, ensuring plants are healthy, well cared for, and attractively presented.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll be helping customers, maintaining plant quality, replenishing stock, and creating eye-catching displays while working as part of a friendly and knowledgeable team.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service and provide helpful plant advice where possible.
• Water, care for, and maintain the quality and appearance of hardy plants.
• Replenish stock and ensure products are correctly priced and displayed.
• Create attractive and inspiring plant displays throughout the department.
• Assist with unloading deliveries and moving plants around the department.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, cleanliness, and health and safety.
• Support seasonal changes and promotional displays.
• Assist with stock takes and stock rotation.
• Work closely with colleagues to ensure the department is well presented at all times.
• Support the Department Manager with the day-to-day running of the department.

• Has a passion for plants and gardening.
• Enjoys delivering excellent customer service.
• Is enthusiastic, reliable, and enjoys working as part of a team.
• Takes pride in maintaining high retail and plant care standards.
• Is happy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Is comfortable with physical work, including lifting and moving plants.
• Has good organisational skills and a positive attitude.
• Previous garden centre, horticultural, or retail experience would be an advantage, although full training will be provided.
