Outdoor Leisure & Christmas General Assistant- Canterbury Chartham

Location: Canterbury Chartham Garden Centre
Hours: 24 hours per week, including alternate weekend working

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Outdoor Leisure & Christmas Department as a General Assistant.

Working across our Outdoor Leisure and Christmas departments, you'll help create an inspiring shopping experience for our customers. From merchandising seasonal displays and replenishing stock to assisting customers with purchases and product advice, this is a varied and rewarding role within a busy garden centre.

The Role

As an Outdoor Leisure & Christmas General Assistant, you'll support the day-to-day running of the department, ensuring it is fully stocked, well presented, and maintained to the high standards our customers expect.

You'll work as part of a friendly team, helping customers, maintaining displays, replenishing stock, and supporting seasonal changes throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service and provide helpful product advice.
• Create attractive, commercial displays that inspire customers and drive sales.
• Replenish stock and ensure products are correctly priced and merchandised.
• Maintain high standards of presentation, cleanliness, and housekeeping throughout the department.
• Assist with the assembly, movement, and merchandising of garden furniture, barbecues, outdoor living products, and seasonal Christmas displays.
• Provide carry-to-car assistance and support customer deliveries where required.
• Process customer purchases accurately using the EPOS system.
• Print and display point-of-sale material throughout the department.
• Support stock takes, seasonal department changes, and promotional events.
• Work closely with colleagues to ensure the department remains safe, organised, and commercially presented.
• Support the Department Manager with the day-to-day running of the department.

• Has a keen eye for detail and visual merchandising.
• Is comfortable carrying out physical tasks, including lifting and moving garden furniture and outdoor leisure products.
• Is reliable, flexible, and happy to support the team during busy seasonal periods.
• Has good organisational skills and can prioritise workload effectively.
• Previous retail experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
