Food General Assistant- Newbridge Nurseries

We're looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Food General Assistant to join our team at Newbridge Nurseries. This is a varied role where you'll help create an enjoyable shopping experience for our customers by maintaining high standards, keeping shelves well stocked and providing excellent customer service.

Location: Newbridge Nurseries
Hours: Part Time – 22 hours per week (including alternate weekends)
Salary: Competitive

Working Pattern

Every week:

• Tuesday: 8.30am – 5.30pm
• Wednesday: 10.00am – 4.30pm

Alternate weekends:

• Saturday: 8.30am – 5.30pm
• Sunday: 9.30am – 4.30pm

The Role

As a Food General Assistant, you'll support the day-to-day running of our Food Hall, helping to create an inviting shopping environment while ensuring products are well presented, fully stocked and available for our customers.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Delivering outstanding customer service and assisting customers with their enquiries.
• Replenishing stock and maintaining attractive, well-presented displays.
• Rotating stock and checking dates to ensure excellent product quality and minimise waste.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety and hygiene.
• Operating the till and processing customer transactions where required.
• Assisting with deliveries, stock movement and merchandising.
• Working closely with the wider team to ensure the department runs smoothly.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

• Friendly, approachable and passionate about customer service.
• Enthusiastic about food retail and maintaining high standards.
• Reliable, organised and able to work well as part of a team.
• Comfortable working in a busy retail environment.
• Flexible and available to work the hours listed, including alternate weekends.
• Previous retail or food retail experience is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided.
