Outdoor Plants General Assistant- Melbicks Garden Centre

Are you passionate about plants and enjoy providing excellent customer service? Melbicks Garden Centre is looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking Outdoor Plants General Assistant to join our busy and vibrant plants team.

30 Hours per Week | Including Weekend Working
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

As part of the award-winning Blue Diamond Group, you'll be helping to create an inspiring shopping experience for our customers while working amongst a wide range of quality plants and horticultural products.

The Role

This is a varied and hands-on role within our Outdoor Plants Department. You will help maintain high standards throughout the plant area, ensuring stock is healthy, well-presented, and readily available for customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Caring for and maintaining outdoor plant stock, including watering and general plant husbandry
• Assisting with the receipt, movement, and replenishment of plant deliveries
• Creating attractive and inspirational plant displays
• Maintaining excellent housekeeping and retail standards throughout the department
• Ensuring plants are correctly priced and point-of-sale material is displayed accurately
• Providing friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful customer service
• Assisting customers with plant selection and offering basic plant care advice
• Supporting carry-to-car service where required
• Using the EPOS system confidently and accurately when required
• Working as part of the wider garden centre team to support seasonal promotions and events

About You

• Passionate about plants and gardening
• Friendly, approachable, and customer-focused
• Reliable, hardworking, and able to work independently when required
• Organised with good attention to detail
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
• A positive team player with a flexible approach to work
• Available to work weekends as part of a rota

Previous horticultural or garden centre experience would be beneficial but is not essential, as training will be provided for the right candidate.
