Location: Great Amwell Garden Centre
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

The Role

As a Line Chef, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes to a consistently high standard. You will work across different sections of the kitchen, supporting the team to ensure smooth service and exceptional food quality.

This is a hands-on role that requires enthusiasm, attention to detail, and a passion for producing great food.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Service

  • Prepare and cook menu items in line with company specifications
  • Ensure dishes are presented to a consistently high standard
  • Maintain excellent portion control and food quality
  • Work efficiently during busy service periods
  • Support the kitchen team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations

Kitchen Operations

  • Assist with food preparation and daily mise en place
  • Support stock rotation and storage procedures
  • Minimise food waste and follow portion control guidelines
  • Ensure all equipment is used safely and correctly
  • Assist with deliveries and stock organisation when required

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain the highest standards of food hygiene and safety
  • Follow HACCP procedures and company policies
  • Ensure correct storage, labelling, and dating of food items
  • Keep workstations and kitchen areas clean, organised, and safe

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work effectively as part of a busy kitchen team
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues and management
  • Support fellow team members during busy periods
  • Contribute to a positive and professional working environment

About You

Essential

  • Previous experience working in a professional kitchen environment
  • Passion for fresh, high-quality food
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen procedures
  • Reliable, hardworking, and team-focused attitude

Desirable

  • Experience in a café, restaurant, or garden centre dining environment
  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Experience working across multiple kitchen sections
  • Knowledge of seasonal ingredients and menu preparation
