Blue Diamond Celebrate Two Shortlisted Plants for RHS Chelsea Plant of the Year 2025

Blue Diamond is thrilled to have two of our plant entries shortlisted for the RHS Chelsea Plant of the Year 2025 award. This prestigious annual award celebrates plants with new or improved features, setting them apart from others in the market.

Floral exhibitors in the Great Pavilion are invited to submit new plants, which are then carefully considered by a panel of RHS and industry experts who narrow the contenders down to no more than 20. These shortlisted plants are displayed at the Show, where RHS Expert groups assess them and select the winner.

This year, we are exhibiting in the Grand Pavilion (site GPB 032), showcasing a treasure trove of exclusive, never-before-seen plants, many of which are available only at Blue Diamond!

We entered five plants into the RHS Chelsea Plant of the Year 2025 award, and we’re excited that the following two have been shortlisted:

Hydrangea Fairytrail® White - Bred by Mr. Ushio Sakazaki of WinGen LLC and exclusive to Blue Diamond Garden Centres, this hydrangea features mophead-shaped flowers on long trailing stems. It blooms from mid-spring, making it a perfect way to start the hydrangea season early. It thrives in semi-shaded spots and is ideal for pots, hanging baskets, or planting in the ground. It reaches a height of 100cm and a spread of 120cm.

Fuchsia MAMBO - Part of the Patio Dancer Series and bred by Tim Kerley of Kerley & Co, this fuchsia combines the aesthetic traits of traditional varieties with the habit and earlier flowering of modern types. It’s compact, with large, intricate blooms, and blooms two weeks earlier, making it ideal for first-time gardeners. It grows to a height of 40cm and a spread of 40cm.

The judges will base their decision on novelty, garden performance, and the appeal of the plants to UK gardeners. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, May 20.
