The Blue Diamond Group are proud to be able to support by helping to promote the charity and awareness of dementia.

The Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. They provide information and support, fund research, campaign to improve care and create lasting change for people affected by dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Many of our customers may themselves be affected by dementia or their friends or families may be affected by dementia in some way.

The Blue Diamond Group is displaying Forget Me Knot pin badges near to till points and are encouraging customers to donate a minimum of £1 for a badge.

We also plan to work closely with the charity in 2021 to help them to raise more much needed funds.

There are over 850,000 people with dementia in the UK alone and every 3 minutes someone develops dementia. There is currently no cure.

People with dementia have been worst hit by coronavirus and over a quarter of all coronavirus deaths have been people living with dementia, and many more have been so badly affected by lockdown - isolated not only from social contact but also essential health and care support.

• Donations to Alzheimer’s Society’s Coronavirus Appeal can be made at alzheimers.org.uk/coronavirus-appeal. 
• Dementia costs the UK economy over £26 billion per year. This is the equivalent of more than £30,000 per person with dementia.
• Alzheimer’s Society funds research into the cause, care, cure and prevention of all types of dementia and has committed to spend at least £150 million on research over the next decade. This includes a £50 million investment in the UK's first dedicated Dementia Research Institute.
