We're looking for a friendly, enthusiastic General Assistant to join our Gardening Department, looking after our Pets & Wild Bird area. This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. From helping customers choose the right products to creating inspiring displays and keeping shelves fully stocked, you'll play an important part in delivering the exceptional shopping experience we're known for.

The Role

As a General Assistant, you'll help keep the Pets & Wild Bird department looking its very best while providing knowledgeable, friendly service to every customer.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering outstanding customer service and offering helpful product advice.

• Replenishing stock and maintaining attractive, well-merchandised displays.

• Assisting customers with products for pets, wild birds and garden wildlife.

• Pricing products and ensuring promotional displays are accurate.

• Keeping the department clean, tidy and safe at all times.

• Supporting with stock deliveries and moving products onto the shop floor.

• Working closely with colleagues across the Gardening Department.

• Helping create an enjoyable shopping experience for every customer.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Has a passion for delivering excellent customer service.

• Has an interest in pets, wild birds or gardening (retail experience is an advantage but not essential).

• Enjoys working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

• Is proactive, reliable and happy to get stuck in.

• Has good communication skills and a positive attitude.

• Is flexible and willing to support the wider Gardening Department when needed.
