The Role

We are looking for a motivated and hardworking Goods In Assistant to join our busy Central Warehouse team. This is a hands-on role that plays a key part in ensuring stock is received, processed, and distributed efficiently across our garden centre network.

Working within our central warehouse operation, you will be responsible for unloading containers, processing deliveries, picking and preparing orders, and dispatching stock to centres. You will help ensure products are handled safely, accurately, and efficiently while maintaining high standards of organisation and stock control.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with unloading containers and processing deliveries efficiently and safely
• Inspect incoming stock to ensure quality standards are met
• Accurately record stock using EPOS and stock control systems
• Manage delivery paperwork and maintain accurate stock records
• Pick, pack, and prepare orders for dispatch to garden centres
• Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently
• Support stock control activities, including stock checks and inventory management
• Manage returns and resolve stock discrepancies when required
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised warehouse, yard, and dispatch areas
• Support the Goods In Department Manager with supplier communications and operational requirements

About You

• Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, distribution, or retail stock handling is desirable
• A forklift licence and/or reach truck licence would be highly advantageous
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling tasks
• Positive, hands-on attitude with a strong work ethic
• Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
• Confident using stock management systems and handheld scanners
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Able to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
