Gardening General Assistant- Peterborough Garden Centre

Location: Peterborough Garden Centre

Hours: Part-time – 6 hours every other weekend (3 hours Saturday & 3 hours Sunday, then alternate weekends off)

The Role

As a Garden Sundries General Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the garden sundries department, helping customers with everything from gardening tools and compost to plant care products and outdoor essentials. This is a hands-on role where product knowledge, customer service, and attention to detail are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable customer service
• Assist customers in selecting appropriate garden sundries products
• Support visual merchandising and create attractive, well-organised displays
• Ensure shelves are fully stocked, tidy, and well presented
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, cleanliness, and safety
• Assist with stock management, replenishment, and deliveries
• Support seasonal changes, promotions, and point-of-sale displays
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team

• Passionate about gardening and outdoor products
• Customer-focused with a positive and proactive attitude
• Reliable and flexible, with availability to work every other weekend
• Strong attention to detail and high presentation standards
• Comfortable working in a busy retail environment
• Retail experience is desirable but not essential — full training will be provided
