Location: Nailsworth Garden Centre

Hours: Part-time – 20–25 hours per week, including every other Sunday and alternate weekend working

The Role

As a Food Department General Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring the Food Hall is immaculately presented, well-stocked, and maintained to the highest standards at all times.

This is a hands-on role where attention to detail, enthusiasm, and a passion for food and customer service are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and ensure the Food Department is immaculately presented at all times
• Replenish stock as required and ensure shelves and displays are fully stocked
• Maintain high levels of food hygiene, cleanliness, and housekeeping standards
• Carry out regular date checking to ensure product freshness and quality
• Use the EPOS system accurately and confidently
• Merchandise stock and support any duties required by the Department Manager
• Follow action points from reports and floorwalks
• Print and display POS material in the relevant areas
• Assist with deliveries, stock rotation, and replenishment
• Support seasonal promotions, tastings, and in-store events
• Provide friendly, helpful, and professional customer service at all times

• Enthusiastic, reliable, and customer-focused
• Passionate about food and quality products
• Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn
• Strong attention to detail, especially around presentation and hygiene standards
• Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced retail environment
• Flexible, including availability for alternate weekends
• Previous retail or food handling experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided
