Hours: Full-time, 42.5 hours per week, including alternate weekends

The Role

As Gardening Department Supervisor, you will support the Department Manager in the day-to-day running of the Gardening (Landscaping) Department.

This includes garden tools, landscaping, compost, plant care, irrigation, pots, and associated accessories.

You will play a key role in ensuring the department runs smoothly, maintaining excellent standards in stock control, merchandising, and customer service while helping to drive sales and operational performance.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong retail experience, attention to detail, and the ability to lead by example on the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Department Manager in delivering sales, margin, and performance targets
• Supervise and motivate the team to deliver excellent customer service
• Maintain high standards of visual merchandising and product presentation
• Assist with stock control, replenishment, ordering, and stock rotation
• Monitor and respond to daily sales performance and key reports
• Ensure promotions, seasonal launches, and POS are correctly implemented
• Support rota planning, task delegation, and day-to-day team organisation
• Maintain health and safety and compliance standards at all times
• Carry out shop floor walk-rounds and ensure operational standards are met
• Assist with training and development of team members

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience in a retail supervisory role (garden centre or similar environment desirable)
• Strong understanding of stock control and merchandising standards
• Confident working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment
• Good commercial awareness with a proactive approach to sales opportunities
• Strong communication and team leadership skills
• High attention to detail and pride in presentation standards
• Hands-on and flexible approach to daily operational needs
• Willingness to learn and develop within a growing business
