General Assistant – Barton Grange Garden Centre (Sat & Sun)

Location: Barton Grange Garden Centre
Hours: Part-time, 6 hours Saturday & 6 hours Sunday

Barton Grange Garden Centre is seeking a friendly and reliable General Assistant to work at the weekend. You will support the tills and assist customers with carry-out services, helping ensure a smooth and positive shopping experience.

This is a customer-facing role that is varied and fast-paced, ideal for someone who enjoys working as part of a team.

About the Role

As a Weekend General Assistant, you will provide front-of-house support, working across tills and assisting customers with carry-out duties. You will help maintain high service standards and contribute to a welcoming store environment.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

• Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner
• Handle queries, purchases, and returns efficiently
• Support customers with carry-out of purchases
• Maintain a welcoming and organised shopping environment

Till Operations

• Accurately process cash, card, and other payments
• Assist with queue management during busy periods
• Ensure tills and surrounding areas are clean, organised, and presentable

General Duties

• Support the wider team with store operations as required
• Follow company policies and procedures
• Maintain awareness of security and loss prevention standards

• Friendly, approachable, and professional
• Reliable and punctual with a flexible attitude
• Able to work efficiently in a busy retail environment
• Strong team player with a positive approach
• Previous retail or customer service experience is desirable but not essential
