Location: Barton Grange Garden Centre
Hours: Part-time, 31.75 hours per week (averaged over 3 days per week) | Alternate weekend working required
Barton Grange Garden Centre is looking for a friendly and reliable General Assistant to support our Tills and Customer Service team in delivering an excellent customer experience.
This is a varied, customer-facing role where you will be working across the tills and service desk, helping ensure every visitor receives efficient, professional, and welcoming service.

About the Role
As a General Assistant, you will play a key role in day-to-day front-of-house operations, supporting both till functions and customer service activities. You will help ensure transactions run smoothly while maintaining a high standard of service at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Provide a friendly, professional, and efficient service to all customers
- Assist customers with queries, purchases, and general enquiries
- Handle returns and refunds in line with company procedures
- Contribute to a positive and welcoming shopping environment
Till Operations
- Accurately process cash, card, and alternative payment methods
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Support queue management during busy periods
- Ensure the till area is clean, organised, and presentable
General Duties
- Support the wider team as required across tills and customer service
- Follow company policies and procedures at all times
- Maintain awareness of security and loss prevention practices
- Assist in maintaining high operational standards

- Well organised with good attention to detail
- Previous retail or customer service experience is desirable but not essential
