Barton Grange Garden Centre is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Till Operator to support the Tills & Customer Service Manager and help deliver an exceptional customer experience.
This is a key operational role combining hands-on till work with team leadership. You will act as second-in-command, supporting and mentoring the till team while ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations.

Location: Barton Grange Garden Centre
Hours: Part-time, 31.75 hours per week (averaged over 3 days per week) | Alternate weekend working required

About the Role
As Senior Till Operator, you will support the Tills & Customer Service Manager in overseeing till and service desk operations. You will play a key role in team supervision, customer service delivery, and maintaining high operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Team Support
- Deliver professional, friendly, and efficient service to all customers
- Handle customer queries, concerns, and refunds in line with company procedures
- Support and mentor junior till operators
- Monitor customer interactions and contribute to continuous service improvement
Operational & Team Support
- Assist with staffing, scheduling, and rota management
- Lead the team during busy periods or in the manager’s absence
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members
- Assist with managing team performance, attendance, and compliance with policies
Financial & Compliance Duties
- Accurately process cash, card, and other payment methods
- Support cash handling, banking, and reconciliation processes
- Maintain awareness of security, compliance, and loss prevention procedures
- Ensure the till and service areas are clean, organised, and presentable
