Temporary Plants General Assistant- Derby Garden Centre

Location: Derby Garden Centre
Contract: Temporary – Spring Season
Hours: Various hours available (part-time & full-time)

We are looking for Temporary Plants General Assistants to join our team at Derby Garden Centre during our busy spring season. With a mix of hours available, this is a great opportunity for anyone looking to gain experience in a busy, hands-on garden centre environment while working with a wide range of plants.

The Role

This is a varied and active role within our plants department, covering both hardy and seasonal plants. You will help ensure our plant areas are well-stocked, well-maintained, and beautifully presented while providing friendly and helpful service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Watering, pruning, deadheading, and general plant care

• Assisting with plant deliveries, checking stock, and replenishing displays

• Maintaining high standards of visual presentation across outdoor and indoor plant areas

• Supporting customers with plant advice and helping transport purchases to their vehicles

• Keeping the plant areas tidy, organised, and safe

About You

We are looking for individuals who:

• Have a genuine interest in plants and gardening

• Enjoy delivering excellent customer service

• Are proactive, reliable, and enjoy working as part of a team

• Are comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions

• Have good attention to detail and organisational skills

• Are flexible and able to work weekends when required

Previous plant knowledge or retail experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided for the right candidates.
