Operations Manager – Nursery

Location: Bridgemere Nursery
Salary: Dependent on experience

We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day and strategic running of our nursery at Bridgemere. This is a senior, hands-on position, working closely with the Nursery Production Manager and Despatch Manager to support the group’s long-term strategy for plant production and growth.

The role will suit someone with solid nursery experience, good horticultural knowledge, and the ability to manage operations, systems, and people while supporting the next phase of growth for the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Day to day responsibility for nursery operations and administration.
• Financial planning, budgeting, and cost control
• Supporting and delivering the group’s strategy for growing plants
• Managing stock control, plant inventory, and availability
• Ensuring strong health and safety standards across the nursery, including compliance, risk assessments, and safe working practices
• Leading and owning the implementation of new computer systems
• Improving processes, systems, and ways of working
• Acting as a key link between nursery teams and senior management
• Planning workloads and managing seasonal priorities with the management team.
• Overseeing suppliers and contractors where required
• Ensuring accurate reporting on stock levels, costs, and operational performance
• Supporting recruitment, training, and development within the nursery team
• Maintaining consistency and standards across plant production
• Working closely with nursery teams and stepping in with ad hoc duties when needed

Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience working in a nursery environment
• Good horticultural knowledge
• Experience in an operations management role
• Strong financial and organisational skills
• Experience managing health and safety in an operational setting
• Confident using and implementing systems and technology
• Practical, ‘can do’, hands-on approach

The Role:

• Based at Bridgemere Nursery
• Mainly office-based
• Full-time, permanent position
• Senior role in the management team with responsibility across nursery operations
• Some flexibility required during peak seasonal periods
• Key role in supporting the next phase of growth for the business
