Position: Seasonal Plant Manager
Location: Cardiff Garden Centre, part of the Blue Diamond Group.
Hours: Full-time 42.5 hours, including alternate weekends.
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience.

The Role
As Seasonal Plant Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day running of our seasonal outdoor plant area, ensuring stock is well-presented, creating visual and inspirational displays to inspire our customers and to help sell products. Your focus will always be on the customer and meeting their expectations, but you will also have responsibility for driving sales and profitability, so you will have a real sense of ownership and empowerment closely with the Plant team to maximise sales while maintaining the highest standards of plant care and customer service.
This is a fast-paced and demanding role, but it allows for autonomy, creativity and personal development within the department too.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:.
- have a creative and entrepreneurial attitude towards plant retailing.
- have excellent knowledge of roses, plant care and maintenance.
- be able to recognise and act on sales opportunities.
- be meticulous to the detail in terms of product placement, standards, presentation, visual elevation and overall look and feel.
- have the ability to manage and develop a team.
- be able to use reports to improve performance.
- have the ability to manage stock from entry to exit within the centre.
- be an excellent communicator.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong horticultural knowledge (formal qualifications are desirable but not essential).
- Experience in a retail, garden centre, or supervisory role
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Leadership experience and success in that role.
- The ability to work as part of a team.
- Experience in stock ordering and stock management.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
- Attention to detail
- A proactive, hands-on attitude, with the ability to work outside in all weather conditions
- A creative flair
