Position: Hardy Plant Supervisor

Location: Great Amwell Garden Centre, part of the Blue Diamond Group.

Hours: Full-time 42.5 hours, including alternate weekends.

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience.

Hardy Plant Supervisor- situated at Great Amwell Garden Centre.

An opportunity has recently arisen at our Great Amwell Garden Centre.

We are looking for a knowledgeable, pro-active Hardy Plant Supervisor to join our team.

 

The Role

As Hardy Plant Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day running of our outdoor plant area, ensuring stock is well-presented, creating visual and inspirational displays to inspire our customers and to help sell products. You will work closely with the Plant Department Manager to maximise sales while maintaining the highest standards of plant care and customer service.

This is a fast-paced and demanding role, but it allows for autonomy, creativity and personal development within the department too.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

· Supervising, motivating, and supporting a small team within the plant department

· Ensuring plants are watered, fed, merchandised, and labelled correctly

· Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering to meet customer demand

· Maintaining a safe, clean, and attractive environment for customers and staff

· Providing expert advice to customers and delivering excellent service

· Assisting with seasonal events and promotional displays

. Follow guidelines on action points following reports and floor walks.

. Print and put out POS material in the relevant areas

 

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong horticultural knowledge (formal qualifications are desirable but not essential).
  • Experience in a retail, garden centre, or supervisory role
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Leadership experience and success in that role.
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
  • Experience in stock ordering and stock management.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Attention to detail
  • A proactive, hands-on attitude, with the ability to work outside in all weather conditions
  • A creative flair
