The planning begins...

Tom from our supporting centre, Fermoys, has visited Emily and the team at the Newton Abbot Centre Association where they discussed the possibility of including soft fruit, herbs, veg, and cut flowers into their garden. They want to make it as interactive for their volunteers as they can.

The site is part shade and has a substantial canopy of trees so the team will really need to think about what plants are suitable and how to best use the space.

Emily and her team are passionate about their project and Tom will support them in making the right plant and landscaping choices. In the mean time the Association are looking at arranging afternoons of volunteers to clear the ground and prepare the area.

Completing the project

The Newton Abbot Community Interest Company have now finished their community garden and used their competition funds to buy the plants for the bath feature and further plants, herbs and vegetable for other areas of the garden. They have also purchased bird feeders and a supply of bird food and some flower seed packets which will be sown at the appropriate times. With the remaining funds they hope to buy a pizza oven for the community to use.
