Temporary Hardy Plants General Assistant- Percy Throwers

Location: Percy Thrower’s Garden Centre
Contract: Short Term (12 weeks)
Hours: 20 hours per week

We are looking for two Temporary Hardy Plants General Assistants to join our team at Percy Thrower’s Garden Centre during our busy spring period. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a friendly, hands-on garden centre environment and gain experience in horticultural retail.

The Role
This is a hands-on and varied role within our plants department. You will play a key part in ensuring our plant area is well-stocked, beautifully presented, and that every customer receives knowledgeable and friendly service.

Key Responsibilities

• Watering, pruning, deadheading, and general plant maintenance

• Assisting with deliveries, checking stock, and replenishing displays

• Maintaining high standards of visual presentation across the plant area

• Helping customers transport and load plants into their vehicles

About You
We are looking for someone who:

• Has a genuine passion for plants and gardening

• Enjoys delivering excellent customer service

• Is proactive, reliable, and able to work as part of a team

• Is comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions

• Has good organisational skills and attention to detail

• Is flexible and able to work weekends

Previous plant knowledge or retail experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided for the right candidate.
