Garden Department General Assistant – Nailsworth Garden Centre

We are looking for a Garden Department General Assistant to join our team at Nailsworth Garden Centre, part of the Blue Diamond Group. If you enjoy working outdoors, staying active, and helping customers, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a friendly and supportive team.

Hours: 40 hours per week, including alternate weekend working

The Role
This is a hands-on, practical role supporting the Gardening Department. You will help ensure the department is well-presented, fully stocked, and ready to provide an excellent experience for customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and ensure the Gardening Department is immaculately presented at all times

• Replenish stock and maintain attractive displays

• Perform general shop floor maintenance and housekeeping

• Assist customers with gardening advice and carry-to-car service

• Use the EPOS system for transactions

• Merchandise stock and carry out any other duties required by the Department Manager

• Follow guidelines on action points arising from reports and floor-walks

• Print and display POS material in the relevant areas and ensure it is correctly placed

• Support colleagues across the centre as required

About You

• Enthusiastic about gardening and providing excellent customer service

• Reliable and able to work independently as well as part of a team

• Physically capable of hands-on work in a busy retail environment

• Positive attitude and willingness to maintain high standards

• Previous gardening or retail experience is desirable but not essential
