Goods In General Assistant – Percy Thrower’s Garden Centre

We are looking for a reliable and organised Goods In General Assistant to join our team at Percy Thrower’s Garden Centre, part of the Blue Diamond Group.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on role and is happy to support the smooth running of our Goods In operation, with the flexibility to increase hours during periods when the Goods In Manager is seconded elsewhere within the business. This secondment could be for a number of weeks in a row or once a month, depending on operational needs.

Position: Goods In General Assistant
Location: Percy Thrower’s Garden Centre, part of the Blue Diamond Group

Hours:

  • 20 hours per week contract
  • Flexibility required to work full-time, Monday–Friday, during periods when the Goods In Manager is seconded elsewhere within the business

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

The Role

This is a key support role within the Goods In department, ensuring deliveries are received accurately and efficiently, and stock is distributed correctly across the centre.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Receiving deliveries and checking stock against delivery paperwork
  • Organising and distributing stock to the appropriate departments
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised Goods In area
  • Supporting departments with stock requests and stock movement
  • Reporting any discrepancies or issues promptly

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Reliable, organised, and able to work well in a busy environment
  • Comfortable with physical work and manual handling
  • Flexible and happy to increase hours when required
  • Holds a valid forklift licence
  • A strong team player with good communication skills
  • Previous Goods In, warehouse, or stock-handling experience is an advantage but not essential
