Position: Senior Till & Customer Service Assistant (Supervisor)

Location: Busy Bee Garden Centre, Isle of Wight – part of the Blue Diamond Group

Hours: Full-time – 42.5 hours per week, including alternate weekend working

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

The Role:

We are looking for a professional, friendly, and motivated Senior Till & Customer Service Assistant (Supervisor) to support the smooth and accurate running of our tills and customer service desk.

You will play a key role in leading the till team, supporting the Till & Customer Service Manager, and stepping into their duties when required — while remaining hands-on with customers.

This is a varied role ideal for someone who enjoys responsibility, teamwork, and delivering high standards in a busy retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Team Leadership

  • Support the Till & Customer Service Manager in delivering outstanding customer service

  • Lead by example at the tills, ensuring a warm and professional customer experience

  • Handle customer queries and complaints confidently and empathetically

  • Assist with training and coaching staff to maintain high service standards

Operational & Financial Support

  • Ensure accurate till operation, cash handling, and refund processing

  • Support cash reconciliation, banking, and investigation of discrepancies

  • Monitor till equipment and report faults promptly

  • Maintain high retail, security, and compliance standards around tills and customer service areas

Management & Planning Support

  • Assist with staff rotas, holiday planning, and peak trading cover

  • Support staffing decisions using trading pattern reports

  • Assist with day-to-day people matters, including sickness, lateness, and performance

General Duties

  • Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient front-of-house environment

  • Carry out additional reasonable duties to support the needs of the business

About You:

You will ideally have previous retail till experience, with supervisory or senior responsibilities, and a genuine passion for customer service.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

  • Confident handling customer issues

  • Reliable, punctual, and flexible to work alternate weekends
