Position: Senior Cashier

Location: Grosvenor Garden Centre, part of the Blue Diamond Group

Hours: Part-time – 38 hours per week including alternate weekend working

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

The Role:
We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Senior Cashier to join our front-of-house retail team. You will play a key role in creating a positive shopping experience for our customers, supporting colleagues, and ensuring smooth operations at the tills.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Operating tills and processing cash, card, and contactless payments accurately.

• Providing a warm, welcoming, and professional service to all customers.

• Handling returns, exchanges, and customer queries in line with company procedures.

• Maintaining a clean, tidy, and well-stocked checkout area at all times.

• Supporting the wider retail team during busy periods, including supervising junior staff when required.

• Assisting with training and mentoring new team members in till operation and customer service standards.

About You:
Previous retail or cashier experience is essential, ideally in a supervisory or senior role. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to lead by example.

Essential skills and qualities:

• Friendly, approachable, and confident when dealing with customers.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling payments.

• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently, support the team, and take initiative.

• Reliability, punctuality, and flexibility to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday).

• Leadership qualities with experience in mentoring or supporting colleagues.
