Location: Le Friquet Garden Centre, Guernsey, Channel Islands, part of the Blue Diamond Group
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week, including alternate weekends
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

The Role
Our Seasonal Plant Department Managers pride themselves not only on giving our customers the very best in product quality and choice but also on providing them with an aspirational shopping experience through creating stunning visual displays. They work hard to constantly ensure stock availability, that our high standards of plant care and quality are always maintained, and that our customers enjoy exceptional service and specialist advice.
As a Seasonal Plant Department Manager, you would be responsible for managing and leading your team in pulling all of this vital activity together so that our customers have a truly unique and memorable shopping experience. Your focus will always be on the customer and meeting their expectations, but you will also have responsibility for driving sales and profitability – so you will have a real sense of ownership and empowerment!
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
· Managing, motivating, and supporting a small team within the plant department
· Ensuring plants are watered, fed, merchandised, and labelled correctly
· Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering to meet customer demand
· Maintaining a safe, clean, and attractive environment for customers and staff
· Providing expert advice to customers and delivering excellent service
· Assisting with seasonal events and promotional displays
. Providing guidelines on action points following reports and floor walks.
. Print and put out POS material in the relevant areas
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have;-
- Strong horticultural knowledge (formal qualifications are desirable but not essential).
- Have experience working in Garden Centres, although we are open to talking to candidates from any horticultural or retail background
- Have an energetic personality with an ability to easily engage with and connect with our AB1 target customers
- Have a creative and entrepreneurial attitude towards plant retailing
- Have excellent knowledge of roses, plant care, and maintenance
- Be able to recognise and act on sales opportunities
- Be meticulous to the detail in terms of product placement, standards, presentation, visual elevation, and overall look and feel
- Have the ability to manage and develop a team
- Be able to use reports to improve performance
- Have the ability to manage stock from entry to exit within the centre
- Be an excellent communicator
- Be able to use an EPOS system
- A commitment to move to Guernsey for 3 years
